Passenger Side Timing Idler (9-5357) by Cloyes®. A timing belt idler is a pulley that helps route the timing belt in its correct position. Depending on the size and length of the belt and engine, there can be one or more idler pulleys within a timing system.

The crankshaft drives the valvetrain via timing gears. Gear timing must be precise to ensure the valves open and close at the right time, for optimum engine performance.
