Programming  Instructions

  • Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode
  • Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming
  • Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote or your existing remote. Door locks will cycle again to confirm programming
  • Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode

Programming  Instructions

These remotes require programming for key portion and Remote portion separately. Two existing working remote keys are required for self programming, if you only have one key please take this key fob to local automotive locksmith for programming. 

Key Portion Programming
  • Insert an existing working key into the ignition cylinder
  • Turn the ignition cylinder to ON (RUN) and back to OFF
  • Remove the existing working key and, within five seconds, insert a second working key and turn it to ON (RUN) then back OFF
  • Remove second working key and insert the new key before ten seconds have elapsed and turn it to ON (RUN). Leave it on for one second and turn back to OFF
  • The security light will light up for three seconds to indicate that the new key has been successfully programmed

NOTE: All the remotes must be programmed at the same programming procedure including the working remotes that you already have.

Remote Head Key for Ford

NOTE: Use these instructions if your Ford Escape has the remote/key combo.
You must have two previously programmed keys and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. If you do not have two previously programmed keys you will need a Locksmith to cut and program a second key.

Key Portion Programming
  • Insert the first previously programmed key into the ignition
  • Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds
  • Switch the ignition off and remove the first programmed key from the ignition
  • After three seconds but within 10 seconds of switching the ignition off, insert the second previously programmed key into the ignition
  • Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds
  • Switch the ignition off and remove the second previously programmed key from the ignition
  • After three seconds but within 10 seconds of switching the ignition off and removing the previously programmed key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition
  • Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least six seconds
  • Remove the newly programmed key from the ignition. If the key has been successfully programmed it will start the engine and operate the remote entry system (if the new key is an integrated keyhead transmitter). If it was not programmed successfully, wait 10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 8

Remote Portion Programming
  • Close the car doors, then open the driver-side door. Press the UNLOCK button on the driver-side door
  • Next, turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times. Do this within 10 seconds, making sure the 8th time ends on RUN. When you’ve entered programming mode, the door locks will lock and unlock. (Note: If the doors don’t cycle, turn the key faster. Your car may not have keyless entry if you still can’t get the doors locks to cycle.)
  • Press any button on the Ford remote to be programmed. Do this within 8 seconds. The door locks will cycle again to confirm the keyless entry remote is programmed and ready to use. Have a second remote key fob? Again, press any button on the remote within 8 seconds to cycle the door locks. Repeat this step for any additional key fobs
  • Finally, turn the ignition to OFF. The locks will again cycle to confirm programming is complete

NOTE: To program the new key you will first need both of the programmed keys that came with the vehicle. If you do not have both you will not be able to program the key yourself. You will need to go to the dealership or locksmith to have it done
  • If you have both keys, put one of the already programmed keys into the ignition
  • Turn the ignition to RUN but do not start the engine
  • After the security light on the dash goes out, remove the key
  • Put the next already programmed key into the ignition and turn the key to RUN, but do not start the engine
  • Wait until the light on the dash goes out, remove the key
  • Take the new key and put it into the ignition
  • Turn the key to RUN but do not start the vehicle
  • Wait until the security light goes out on the dash then remove the key
  • The new key should now be programmed

Can I program keys myself?

Yes, you can program additional keys by yourself if you already have two working keys for your car. If you only have one key, please take the new key to an Automotive Locksmith for getting it programmed. 

Does this come with the programmable chip?

Yes, please try self-programming instruction or take it to local automotive locksmith for getting them programmed to your car.

I programmed by Remote key and Key starts the car but buttons are not working. What should I do?

Ford Remote Keys need separate programming for Key portion and remote portion. Please follow remote portion programming instruction which we have provided above in this page. 

Should I take these keys to a dealership or elsewhere? 

Please try self-programming first. If self-programming didn’t work out please take them to any Automotive Locksmith near you. 
Note: Dealership may not program aftermarket remotes and they usually claim aftermarket remotes are defective even without trying the programming.

I only have one working key fob; can this be programmed any other way?

Sorry, self-programming can only be done if you have two working keys. Please take the new fob to any automotive locksmith near your area and they should be able to pair this key to your car.

Can I program this myself if I have 2 working fobs? 

Yes, please have the key cut by local hardware store and follow our programming instructions.

My keys starts the car but remotes stopped working after couple of months

Looks like the remote need a new battery, please try replacing the battery (Type: CR2032) by opening backside of remote using any coin (loonies or toonies).
